From 4 July 2009 it became a legal requirement for all businesses that install, maintain or service stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and/or heat pump equipment containing or designed to contain F-Gas refrigerants to obtain an F-Gas Company Certificate. The Environment Agency have now taken control of F Gas Regulation enforcement, they are pro-actively checking business compliance. As of July 2011 all businesses must hold a Full Company Certificate. If your business has missed the deadline, apply now for a Stationary Equipment Qualification Company Certificate (Full Certificate), before enforcement checks catch up with you.

To obtain a Full company certificate, businesses must:

  • Employ sufficient numbers of personnel holding a full personnel qualification to cover expected volume of in-scope activities; and
  • Have the necessary tools and procedures for the personnel to carry out the in-scope activities that require certification.

If you have not already applied for a Company Certificate you should do so immediately, without further delay. It is now a criminal offence to carry out the above activities without a Company Certificate.

From the 1st January 2015 new f-gas regulation 517/2014 comes in to force which will affect all manufacturers, suppliers and users of fluorinated gases.

Gas UK would like to bring to your attention one particular change that will affect you. These changes are covered in articles 6, 10 and 11 of the legislation which cover record keeping, training and certification and restrictions on placing on the market. Gas UK has inplemented a new policy on the sale of Fluorinated Refrigerant Gas (F-Gases), this is that our letter of assurance must be filled in to an adequate standard and audited by a authorised member of staff, before any sale of Fluorinated Refrigerant Gas (F-Gases) can take place.

From January 1st 2015 Gas UK will require the following f-gas certification information from customers prior to the supply of HFC refrigerant gases (first supply only).

Once Gas UK has registered this information in our system against your account you will be able to continue to purchase refrigerant product from us as normal until the renewal date of your company F-gas registration.
